Little Brook, NS – September 17, 2021: Council for the Municipality of the District of Clare has set November 20, 2021, as the date of the Special Election for District 7.

Left vacant by Warden Ronnie LeBlanc following his election to the Nova Scotia Legislative Assembly as the Liberal representative for the riding of Clare, District 7 includes parts of Meteghan, St. Martin, Bear Cove and St. Alphonse. Only those living in District 7 are eligible to vote in the Special Election.

As per the recommendation of Returning Officer Pam Doucet, the Special Election will follow a hybrid formula with electronic voting during the advanced polls, from November 12, up to and including November 20, and paper ballots on election day, November 20.

Those interested in becoming a candidate for District 7 must file their nomination papers on Nomination Day (October 26) or on the seven business days before that date by appointment by contacting Returning Officer Pam Doucet at 902-769-2031.

Eligible voters in District 7 will receive a voter information letter by mail later this fall.

Since the resignation of Ronnie LeBlanc as Warden in August 2017, Deputy Warden Yvon LeBlanc has assumed the Warden’s duties. Following the Special Election for District 7 and the swearing in of the newly elected councillor, Council for the Municipality of the District of Clare will appoint a new Warden and Deputy Warden.
