Clare Energy Concept

Working towards a vision of becoming a more sustainable community, the Municipality of the District of Clare has been working on its project called the "Clare Energy Concept" since 2005.  With project management assistance granted from the South West Shore Development Authority (SWSDA), government funding was secured to conduct an energy audit of the Municipality, identify possible renewable energy projects and outline an implementation plan.

The Municipality has recently hired an Energy Coordinator who is responsible for the promotion and implementation of initiatives related to the municipal “Clare Energy Concept” plan. This full-time position is fully funded by the Federal Gas Tax Program. With a comprehensive inventory of energy usage within the Municipality, the Coordinator’s focus is on energy reduction for the community and project development suggestions for the innovative use of renewable and green energy solutions.

Pam Thibault has been hired as the Coordinator and began her job at the Municipality in June 2010.  With several years experience in project management on various energy-related initiatives, Pam has been a partner of the Municipality on this initiative since its inception in 2005.  Her former role as Development Officer with the region’s Development Authority has prepared Pam well for this challenge. She brings with her the experience and enthusiasm required to move this exciting project forward.

The Coordinator is hard at work leading an awareness campaign, promoting government programs that support energy conservation and reduction, and working closely with private industries that focus on moving forward with renewable energy projects.
