A wide variety of recreational events and programs are offered throughout the Municipality of Clare each year. Our quarterly newsletter is mailed to the residences of Clare four times a year.

JUMPSTART CHARITY BOWLING TOURNAMENT
Teams of 4 are invited to participate in the first annual Charity Bowling Tournament, sponsored by Cermaq. No experience necessary! Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams. In partnership with the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program, all proceeds will be used to assist children in Clare to participate in sports and recreational activities. No experience necessary! Do you enjoy playing sports, but can’t find anyone to play with? Then join us! All skill levels are welcome, and participation is always free! All participants are asked to wear clean, indoor sneakers. Please note, drop-in sports are cancelled when school is closed (in-service days, storm days and holidays).

GEOCACHING - FEBRUARY - MARCH 2020
Bring the whole family and participate in this outdoor treasure hunting game. Clare Recreation has hidden 5 caches throughout the municipality. Each cache contains a word. Collect all 5 words, complete the sentence and return your completed logs to the recreation services before the end of March for a chance to win a prize. As of February 1, you will be able to get the coordinates at Clare Recreation or on our website.
Participants may borrow a GPS through our Equipment Loan Program (a refundable $25 deposit is required).
WINTER ACTIVE CHALLENGE
January 1 to March 31, 2020. Join in the fun by participating in our Winter Active Challenge and be eligible to win various prizes! Please contact Clare Recreation to receive your Winter Active Challenge tracking sheet, or download your from below.
INDOOR WALKING PROGRAM
Escape the winter conditions and walk comfortably through the hallways of École secondaire de Clare. Please wear clean indoor sneakers. Walking program is cancelled when school is closed (storm days, in-service days, holidays) When: Monday through Friday as of January 6, 2020

It’s time to lace up your skates! Older adults & adults with STROLLERS welcome!

Clare Recreation Services is accepting applications from students for the following summer employment opportunities: · Team Supervisor – 16 weeks · Advertising Specialist – 15 weeks · Special Events Coordinator (2 positions) – 14 weeks Successful applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, have access to a vehicle and must be able to communicate in both official languages.

VOLUNTEER WEEK - APRIL 19 TO 25, 2020
Volunteer organizations throughout the Municipality of Clare will receive nomination forms to submit the name of a volunteer from their organization to be honoured at the annual volunteer recognition banquet to be held on Thursday, April 23, 2020. Be sure to return your nomination form by no later than Friday, January 31, 2020 so your volunteer may be recognized for his/her valuable work. Please contact Clare Recreation Services to ensure that your volunteer organization is listed.
ACTIVE SENIORS PROGRAM
Come join us with fun recreational activities! This program is made possible in partnership with the Province of Nova Scotia, La Société Acadienne de Clare and l’Université Sainte-Anne. As of January 6 the schedule will be as follows.

When: Every Wednesday Time: 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Where: Université Sainte-Anne Cost: FREE!
GYM When: Every Friday Time: 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Where: Université Sainte-Anne Cost: FREE!
On scheduled CSAP in-service days, we offer free activities, such as swimming, skating and bowling to encourage kids to get active. Check out our social media pages for updates.
FREE FAMILY SWIMMING, CURLING, SKATING AND BOWLING
Until spring 2020, bring the entire family to enjoy free access to the recreational facilities! Youth must be accompanied by at least one adult.
Please note: At all swim times, children under 54" (137 cm) must be accompanied in the water by a responsible adult.
At all curling times, youth 9 to 12 years must wear a helmet.
