A wide variety of recreational events and programs are offered throughout the Municipality of Clare each year. Our quarterly newsletter is mailed to the residences of Clare four times a year.

SPORTS CAMP

MONDAY, JULY 22ND TO THURSDAY, JULY 25TH

The four-day sports camp for youth ages 9 to 13 includes a variety of sports such as soccer,The four-day sports camp for youth ages 9 to 13 includes a variety of sports such as soccer,curling, archery, bowling and more! The camp will take place at École secondaire de Clare, theClare Curling Centre and Seaside Bowling Lanes. Participants must register before July 16thas space is limited.

 


 

DRIVE-IN

MONDAY, JULY 29TH

Come and enjoy an almost authentic afternoon at a drive-in! Have fun decorating your own cardboard box car, then settle in the park to watch a movie in French. All materials will be provided.

 


 

SLIP N’ SLIDE

METEGHAN: MONDAY, JULY 29TH

HAVELOCK: TUESDAY, JULY 30TH

Come and have fun on our huge slide! This activity will take place at Stella-Maris School on July 29th and at the Havelock Community Center on July 30th. This activity is open to all and will take place rain or shine.

 


 

CHILDREN’S PARADE

TUESDAY, JULY 30TH

AGES 12 & UNDER

Youth ages 12 and under are invited to participate in the traditional Acadian Children’s Parade! The parade will start at the Stella-Maris Church at 1:30pm and will end at the Villa Acadienne. Prizes will be given to the best costumes! Participants are asked to arrive before 1:30pm in order to register. There will be a snack after the parade for the participants and their families. In case of rain, the activity will be held on August 1st.


 

BASKETBALL CAMP

MONDAY, AUGUST 12TH TO WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 14TH

Reinforce your skills with a fun-filled basketball! This training camp, in partnership with ÉcolesReinforce your skills with a fun-filled basketball! CARD GAMES

THURSDAY, JULY 25TH, MONDAY, AUGUST 12TH

Fun afternoons for seniors at the Clare Veterans Centre. There will be a variety of games to choose from such as cribbage, hand & foot, and queen of spades. A light snack will be provided.


 

WASHER TOURNAMENT

HAVELOCK: WEDNESDAY, JULY 17TH, 4:30PM – 7PM

METEGHAN: THURSDAY, AUGUST 8TH, 10:30AM – 2:30PM

FREE!

Come enjoy these fun and competitive days with other seniors! Individuals must register in advance as space is limited. A BBQ will be provided for lunch in Meteghan and supper in Havelock. On July 17th, the activity will be held at the Havelock Community Centre (in case of rain, July 18th). On August 8th the activity will be held at the ESDC ball field (in case of rain, August 9th). Remember to bring your own chair.

 


SUMMER ACTIVE CHALLENGE

Again this summer, during the summer months, we invite you to participate in our Summer Active Challenge. Do at least 30 minutes of physical activity 5 times per week and contact the Clare Recreation Services by phone or by e-mail at  before 4:00 p.m. every Tuesday starting June 4 to be included in the weekly draw. Each week that you call or email us, your name will also be entered in the grand prize draw to be won at the end of the summer. FAMILY WALK 

DATE: Mondays from June 17th until July 29th

TIME: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

LOCATION: Lisa T Café

COST: Free!

Join us for a fun morning of creativity and physical activity! There will be a short activity at the Lisa T Café for kids followed by a family walk in le Petit Bois.

STROLLER STRIDES

DATE: Every Tuesday starting June 18

TIME: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

LOCATION: Meet at Lisa T. Café

COST: Free!

Bring your infant for a walk in their stroller or carrier. Fun exercises will be incorporated into the walk to make it an enjoyable workout.

LEARN TO FONDO

DATE: Sundays starting June 23

TIME: 10:00 a.m.

LOCATION: Vélo Baie Sainte-Marie

COST: $50

Would you like to enhance your cycling skills but don’t know where to start? Learn to Fondo is a 12 week program that will teach you all the knowledge and abilities you’ll need to achieve your goals. If you participate in the program and complete at least 10 of 12 sessions, you will receive a $50 gift certificate from Vélo Baie Sainte-Marie! Please contact Clare Recreation for more information.

PADDLE NIGHT

METEGHAN: MONDAY, JULY 22ND;

CONCESSIONS: THURSDAY, JULY 25TH

Join us for a nice paddle on Seth Lake behind the Meteghan Lions Club on July 22nd (in case of rain on July 24th) and on Victor Lake by the CJA on July 25th (in case of rain on July 26th). The activity is for everyone 7 years old and over! Bring your own vessel or contact the Clare Recreation Services to reserve a kayak.

 


 

TRIVIA AND PHOTO HUNT

TUESDAY, JULY 23rd

6:30PM – 8:30PM

FREE!

Bring your team to the Meteghan Firehall to participate in this popular activity that will test your knowledge of Clare. You will have to answer a trivia questionnaire, followed by a photo hunt revolving around hints that are specific to the region. Participants must have access to a vehicle and are asked to bring a Smartphone. You can send your first 20 photos to us via text message, email or Facebook.

 


 

KITE NIGHT

TUESDAY, AUGUST 6TH

6:30PM – 8PM

FREE!

Join us at Mavillette Beach for a fun evening of kite flying! These will be built with the help of equipment provided by the Recreation Services. Those who wish to participate are asked to register by July 29th. In case of rain, the event will take place on August 7th.

 


 

WENTWORTH SCAVENGER HUNT

TUESDAY, AUGUST 13TH

6:30PM – 8:30PM

FREE!

This is the ideal activity for detectives and explorers of all ages. Walk along the trail at Wentworth Park to find missing objects in order to solve riddles. You could win great prizes! In case of rain, the activity will be held on Wednesday, August 14th.

 


 

RAISING OF THE FLAG

THURSDAY, AUGUST 15TH

Come join us at the Clare Veterans Centre in Saulnierville and celebrate our Acadian heritage with the official raising of the Acadian flag. There will be a performance by La Baie en Joie followed by a light snack.

 


 

TINTAMARRE

THURSDAY, AUGUST 15TH

6PM DEPARTURE

FREE!

On August 15th, meet us at the Salmon River Fire Hall and participate in this fun Acadian celebration while making as much noise as possible! The Tintamarre leaves at 6PM sharp! Participants will arrive at Université Sainte-Anne where they may participate in the walking Tintamarre which will lead them into to the concert. All participants must follow the rules of the road. This includes the wearing of seatbelts by every passenger.
